Ernestine who was known to many as "Ernee" and affectionately referred to as "Dolly" by her family members, passed away on October 23, 2020. Born in Clara City, Minnesota, she was the youngest of seven children to parents Theresia and Joseph Schuman. After graduating from high school Ernee desired a change from the farm life of her childhood. She attended beauty school to become a hairstylist. She traveled and lived in several states in her early adult years working while enjoying different locales and meeting new people.
Ernee married the late Alfred Egan of Chicago and they eventually moved to Maitland, Florida where they raised their two sons, Tim Egan (Cathy) and Bob Egan (Sissy). She enjoyed many activities including tennis, bridge, baking and gardening. Her gardening skills were well known by her neighbors, friends and fellow church members as she shared the harvested fruits and vegetables for many to enjoy. Her garden was even the inspiration for a published children's book entitled "Dolly's Garden." Ernee also appeared in local theme park advertisements and brochures during several years working as a mature model.
In recent years, Ernee faced limitations due to Parkinson's Disease although she was always known for her kindness and generosity toward others, especially those participating in her care. "Dolly" was the loving grandmother to Justin (Maitland, FL) and Amanda (New York City, NY) who both share fond memories of making homemade bread and eating ponkans from the tree in her backyard.
Ernee was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs. Funeral arrangements will be provided by DeGusipe Funeral Home located in Maitland, Florida. Website:
