With great sadness, we announce the recent passing of Ernest Richard Parker, of Orlando, FL, who passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, at 93.
Born November 18, 1931, in Islington, London, England, Ernie lived a life defined by service, strength, and steadfast love for his family. He served honorably in the British Army's Royal Corps of Signals for 24 years, spending most of his career in Paris, Cyprus, and Belgium before retiring with the rank of Sergeant.
After retiring from military service in 1971, Ernie made a life-changing decision to immigrate to the United States with his family, moving to Connecticut. He eventually settled in Florida in 1979, making Florida his home. Once in the United States, Ernie embarked on a successful business career, which offered him the opportunity to travel the world. Known for his leadership, humility, and deep sense of duty, he left a legacy in both military and civilian life.
Ernie built a life grounded in family, community, and his church (Incarnation Catholic Church), where his faith and generosity left a lasting impact. Known affectionately as "Mr. Bingo," Ernie founded the church's Bingo night, creating a tradition that raised funds for the church and school. He also served faithfully as an Acolyte, Junior Warden, and assistant to Bishop Lou Campese, becoming a cornerstone of the parish community. His British charm, calm demeanor, and warm sense of humor endeared him to everyone he met.
A passionate football (soccer in the US) supporter, Ernie was a lifelong and proud fan of Arsenal Football Club – a true Gooner through and through. His love for the sport extended beyond the stands; as a FIFA Certified referee, he refereed matches throughout his military career and for his son's youth soccer team. Whether on the pitch or cheering from home, his enthusiasm was contagious and enduring. He also found great joy in golf — whether playing a round with family and friends, watching the majors, or perfecting his swing on the golf course. It was more than a pastime; it was a peaceful retreat, a way to bond with family and friends, and a lifelong passion that brought him joy.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy M. Parker; his children, Lois Parker, Michael Parker (Robin), Martin Parker (Monica), Richard Parker (Dana); stepchildren, Albert Kaidor, Jr. (Michelle), David Kaidor, Susan Kaidor-Salyers (M. Shawn). He is also survived by his brothers, John Parker (Dawn) and David Parker (Lyn). He was a proud grandfather to 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest W. Parker (stepmother Edith), his mother, Grace Ivy Matilda Jessop, and his siblings Grace Parker, Ronald (Ron) Parker, Frederick (Fred) Parker, Joyce Daly, Olive McDonald, Diana Taylor, and William (Billy) Parker.
A service will be held at the Incarnation Catholic Church, 1515 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, FL 32804, with a reception being held after the service at Chapel & Cellar, 216 W. Lyman Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32789. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ernie's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
