Obituary

Mr. Ernest (Ernie) A. Hatfield of Orlando, FL passed away in his home on April 2nd surrounded by family at the age of 71.

Ernie was born to parents Homer and Martha Hatfield on January 8th, 1947 in Carroll County, KY. He grew up as the youngest of eight and attended Jackson Dell High School. In 1965 he enlisted in the Army to serve his country.

Ernie served in Vietnam and, upon his return, married his high school sweetheart Gala Simmons in 1967. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Ernie and Gala relocated to Orlando, FL to be close to family and start a family of their own.

Ernie was a humble, generous man who believed in God, his family, and his country. A role model to many, Ernie demonstrated what it means to be a man with integrity and a leader of his family.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Gala Hatfield; his daughter Jennie Moorfield; his son Ernie Hatfield; his grandsons Miles and Owen Moorfield; his sister Norma Jean Delcher; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children.

He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by many.

A celebration of Ernie's life will be held on Wednesday April 4th at 11am at Reeves Memorial United Methodist Church located at 1100 N Fern Creek Ave, Orlando, FL 32803. The interment will be held at a later date in Indiana.
