Obituary

Dale Christie, 1933 - 2014; It is with love and sadness that we report the passing of our beloved husband and father, E. Dale Christie. He passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014, at the age of 81, due to numerous complications from a lengthy illness. He was born in Rapid City, South Dakota to Vera and Ernie Christie on March 25, 1933.

He was a graduate of Bay Shore High School and Union College in New York and he was a Delta Upsilon alumni. He served in the United States Air Force and he was stationed at SAC Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. He was an executive with the New York Telephone Company and he transferred to Orlando with AT&T in 1978. He retired from AT&T in 1986 to pursue his interests in volunteering in the community, hitting the little white ball around the golf course, cooking and cruising the high seas with his family. He was active in the OAAA, coordinating benefits, scholarships, fundraisers and golf tournaments. He was a beloved B.I.L. to many.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife Elaine of 58 years, his son Robert (Michele), daughter Susan (Tim), grandchildren Lauren, Cassaundra and Matthew, step-grandchildren Ryan, Kyle (Sarah) and Tyler, sister-in-law Janet, niece Donna, nephews Jim and Gary as well as his extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Don.

Dale will be cremated in Orlando and a memorial service will be held in the chapel at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bay Shore, New York on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 2:00pm. He will be interred in the Living Wall at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

At his personal request, the family will host a celebration of his life where we will toast him, "Happy Day".
