Erland "Jack" Petersen, age 99, of Clermont, Florida passed away on September 2, 2021. Jack was born on May 7, 1922 in New York, New York, the son of Emil Jacob and Helen (Klumbach) Petersen, and sister of the late Muriel Ricker.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Dorothy. Jack is also survived by his sons: Jack and his wife Terry Petersen; Thomas and his wife Susan Petersen; Pete and his wife Roseann Petersen; and daughter Mary and her husband Al Stavropulos. He was a loving grandfather to nine, and great grandfather to thirteen.
Prior to his marriage to Dorothy, Jack served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, spending much of his time in Pearl Harbor. They lived in New Milford, NJ where they resided and raised their family until relocating to Florida in 2018. He was employed by CBS Television in New York City for over 35 years. After his retirement, he enjoyed many years spending time with family and traveling.
Jack was a longtime parishioner of Ascension Church in New Milford, NJ, and along with his wife, Dorothy, served as Eucharistic Ministers, were involved with numerous ministries including RCIA, Marriage Prep and the church's Youth Group where they were affectionately known as "Grandma & Grandpa." He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
