Obituary

Eloise Lavina Adams Stearns Conley entered her eternal home in Heaven in the early morning hours of January 10, 2020 at the Celebration Nursing and Rehab Center, Celebration, FL, after a short illness. She was the sixth child of a family of eight, daughter of Dewey Adams and Kathryn Proctor Adams Scheublein. Eloise was born June 3, 1931, in Johnson City, TN and spent her childhood days on the family dairy farm with her Granny and Granddad Proctor. She attended Science Hill High School and was active in the Piney Grove Methodist Church. After the death of her beloved Granddad, Eloise moved to Pennsylvania with her mother and sister Kay, working the apple and tomato fields. Eventually they moved to Jacksonville, FL, and then to Eustis, FL.

Eloise returned to Jacksonville where she worked for the Krystal Restaurant and met Robert Stearns, a sailor stationed at the Navy base. They married in 1952 and their first two children were born in Jacksonville. The young family moved to the Orlando area and eventually welcomed three more children.

Eloise was a homemaker, a technician at Martin-Marietta, an office assistant at Maynard Evans High School, and a secretary in the Decorating Department at Walt Disney World. A highlight of her Disney career was participating in the decorations for the Bicentennial Parade in 1976, and the opening of Epcot. After retirement, Eloise and her second husband, Harry Conley, traveled the US by RV and settled in Kissimmee.

Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; George Adams, Dexter Adams, Jimmy Adams, sisters; Grace Counts, Fran McGinty Snodgrass, first husband; Robert Stearns, Sr., second husband; Harry Conley, daughter; Kelly Stearns Wallace Seech, granddaughter; Krissie Amber Sees.

Eloise was the loving matriarch to a large family that spanned five generations. She is survived by: sisters; Ruth Polk (Bob), Elizabethton TN, Kay Gnann, Eustis FL; children; Robin Lee (John), Jamestown SC, Robert Stearns, Jr. (Karen), Kissimmee FL, Thomas Stearns, Kissimmee FL, Kasey Barreras (Rafael), Groveland FL; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Eloise was a member of the Methodist Church and because of her faith in Jesus Christ we have the assurance she is in Heaven with those loved ones who went before her, and is looking forward to the day we will all join her there.
