Obituary

(Mary) Ellen Coakley, age 78 of Apopka, Florida, passed away on June 30, 2020. Ellen was born on February 1, 1942 in Gallup, New Mexico, the daughter of Charles Francis and Julia Marie (Borra) Devlin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Frankie and sister Carole. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Charles (Chuck) Coakley, her daughter Kelly (Doug) Crenshaw, step-children John Coakley, Lori Nimon (Murray) and Jamie Coakley (Sunny), grandchildren and pride of her life, John-Tyler, Courtney and Carson Crenshaw, Jordan and Jessica Nimon, Ryan, Aden and Kayln Devlin-Bergman. Ellen is also survived by brothers, Eddie, Gene (Phyllis), Tom (Yavon), sisters, Deanna Rengstorff (John), Judy Devlin (Charles Childress) Valerie Devlin-Arnold (Steve), numerous nieces and nephews, loving and devoted caregiver of 7 years Violenne Lubin, caregiver Louise Frederick along with many other loving family and friends.

Ellen was a life long educator impacting young lives from California, New Jersey, Mississippi and Florida. She taught at Bishop Moore Catholic H.S. for almost 20 years and was a Teacher of Excellence award winner. She ended her career at Edgewater H.S. Her daughter and granddaughter, Courtney, carry on her legacy as educators.

Ellen was very involved in her Church and community. She was a member of the College Park Rotary Club and was their Rotarian of the Year for 2001-2002. She was also involved in numerous ministries throughout the years at Annunciation Catholic Church. Most recently she and Chuck were active with the Retroville marriage ministry.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, July 6, 2020 with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:30 pm at DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory, 9001 N. Orlando Ave., Maitland, FL 32751
