Elizabeth "Betty" Silverstein, 91, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on April 12, 2023.Betty was born in Astoria, Queens, New York, where she met her husband, Stanley Silverstein, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Stanley (Jill) Silverstein, Jane (Antoine) Sioshansi and Alliaume, Thomas (Linda) Silverstein, John (Carole) Silverstein, and Lisa (Robert) Apple. Betty is also survived by her many grand and great-grandchildren.
Betty loved being surrounded by family and friends. She could remember all their birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and other important dates, never forgetting to reach out to them via card or telephone.
Her favorite past time was doing crossword puzzles, playing solitaire, playing cards with her friends in the Condo, watching Jeopardy, and reading a novel. And in the past year, playing Monopoly became her passion.
Her best friend was Pat Garris, who was committed, caring, and loyal to Betty until the end. The two loved Bingo and went twice a week for many years. Pat would drive the car, and Betty would backseat drive. Between them, they were a force of nature. Special thanks goes to Debra Silva for the wonderful meals she shared with my mother.
Betty will be missed by many. She leaves this world a better place with her heartwarming smile and big heart.
