Elizabeth A. "Betty" Joyner was born March 20, 1930 in Murphysboro, Illinois the daughter of Robert and Isabelle McKenzie. She grew up in Jackson, Tennessee where she attended Union University, was a cheerleader and 1st Runner-up in the Miss Tennessee Pageant.
Betty married Jim Joyner, a football player at Union in 1950 and together raised 5 children, Judy, Bob, Joe, Mike and Donny.
Mrs. Joyner was a career educator, teaching elementary school for 32 years after graduating from Bethel University. She was a true servant, devoted to her family, her Catholic faith and her students. Mrs. Joyner would be honored and humbled to be remembered in such an impactful way at Flagler College, and to assist future teachers.
She is survived by her sister Mary Carolyn "Mickie" Whitaker, her children, Judy Stokes (Earl), Bob Joyner (Patty), Joe Joyner (Susan), Mike Joyner (Tami), and Donny Joyner (Sherrie), 13 Grandchildren and 16 Great grandchildren
A Memorial Mass will be held for Elizabeth at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Annunciation Catholic Church, Altamonte Springs, FL
