Eleni Farrell, age 73, passed to her eternal resting place on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at her home in Orlando, FL.
Eleni was of Greek descent, but was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt with her parents, sister, and an extended family. Eleni later moved with her family to Rome, Italy, and attended college, receiving a bachelor's degree in accounting.
Eleni worked as a flight attendant for several Mideastern airlines before moving to the United States in 1969 to continue her career. Her fluency in five languages became extremely useful while serving as an attendant on international flights originating in New York.
After Eleni's career with the airlines she worked in retail. Eleni's diligence, hard work, and attention to detail enabled her to rise from an entry level position to top store management.
Eleni and her husband John retired to The Villages, FL and thereafter to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. At the time of her passing she resided temporarily in Orlando, FL.
Like the Greek people of her heritage, Eleni had a fiery, passionate soul tempered by a warmth and generosity that she wore openly. Her greatest pleasure in life was in giving to others. Whether it be a kind word or a warm meal prepared with love, nobody who encountered Eleni on her voyage through life was untouched by her willingness to share of herself.
Eleni is survived by her loving husband, John H. Farrell, her sister, Adriani Bitzarakis, nephew, Manoli Bitzarakis and niece Maria Giannoulakis of Crete, Greece, stepson John Farrell (Kacey) of Virginia Beach, VA, stepdaughter Amanda Simon (Teran) of Fuquay Varina, NC, and stepgrandchildren Sylvie, Julia and Piper Farrell and Aiden and Evelyn Simon.
