Elena 'MOMMA" Cuppy passed away Wednesday Jan. 13 in St. Petersburg, Fla. @ Sun Coast Bay Front Hospice Center who did a magnificent job of taking care of her and her family. She was 94 years young and loved life. She died in the company of her daughter Diana Michota, granddaughter Stase Michota and Bud Simmons, Diana's fianc who were always by her side until she passed. She had an incredible life, was blessed with good health most of her life, was born in Russia, raised in Lithuania and loved to help her father on their farm. She loved to tell the stories of her being hid under their farmhouse when their country was invaded by Russia and Germany. Her family tried to get her and her sister out of Lithuania on a train but it wrecked and her sister was killed and she almost lost her leg. She ended up being saved by a great doctor, Dr.Vytautas Grybinas who was told to cut her leg off but refused to do so. She then rewarded him by marring him, giving him three daughters and loving him until he died of a heart attack at the young age of 44 from working to much. He worked most of the time over 12 hours a day trying to help many and getting paid a lot of the times with pies, cakes, dogs, etc... He was a very kind and loving husband who died to young trying to help others. They loved to dance ballroom and she danced until almost the very end and now is hopefully dancing again with her beloved husband. She was very socially inclined, loved to swim, dance, meet new people, and encourage others to be active. She lived a very active life until the last 9 years when she moved in with her devoted daughter Diana and granddaughter Stase. She was to be 95 in a few weeks and loved to go out, meeting new people, drinking a Manhattan and eating out. Her last dinner out was only a few days before she died with Diana, Stase and Bud.. She had her favorite meal of Lobster Bisque soup and a Manhattan and passed away a few days later. The family would like to ask for any and all donations to go to Sun Coast Hospice Center who beat any and all expectations and will always be close to the families heart. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, January 18 at St. Judes (Our Ladys Chapel) at 11 A.M.
