Eileen B. Long (nee Boland), loving wife for over 61 years of John F. Long, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2017. She was pre-deceased by their daughter, Denise Marie, brothers John, James, Joseph, Francis, Thomas Boland and sister Julia Paparella. Eileen is survived by daughters Michelle Wesson (Robert) and Megan McDonald (Kenneth); grandchildren Bobby Wesson, Kerry Wesson, Jack McDonald, Sam McDonald, Devon McDonald and brother Kevin Boland.
Born in Penllyn, PA, Eileen graduated from the Notre Dame Academy in Wyncote, Pa after which she worked as a secretary for Merck Sharp and Dome before marrying John and accompanying him throughout his Naval career. While traveling with John and raising their daughters, Eileen returned to school and earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island. She re-entered the workforce first as a teacher, then administrator for various government agencies before joining Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) as a cost analyst after the family settled in central FL.
Eileen was a life-long volunteer with various social, religious and political organizations. She was a long time member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park, the Republican Women's Club and the Retired Officers Wives Club.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 26, 2017 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park. Interment will follow at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
