Edwina Lenear Borders was the daughter of Seabron Ross Sr. and Laura Dell Ross. She was born March 14, 1937 in Riverhead NY.
Edwina L. Borders was a graduate Riverhead High School in Riverhead NY. She later went on to receive her college degree in Nursing.
Edwina was united in holy matrimony to her loving husband Marvin Borders on April 27, 1984
Edwina accepted Christ at an early age. She was an active member, Secretary, Head Nurse, and Missionary leader at Friendship Baptist Church in Riverhead NY. She held these various positions until she retired and relocated to Ocala FL. She transitioned her membership to New Shady Grove Baptist Church of Ocala FL. There she was head of the Deaconess Board. Edwina was also the head nurse of the 2nd Bethlehem Association. Edwina also held various positions in the Ocala Christian Women's Association. Her final position there was that of Chair.
Edwina L Borders was employed by the Suffolk County Department of Health where she was the head nurse of various centers. She retired from these positions and relocated to Ocala Florida
Edwina L. Borders served as the Mayor of Pine Valley NY. She was one of the few Black female Mayors in the state of New York. Edwina was also a dedicated member and played a significant role in the Suffolk County Girl Scouts of America.
Edwina L. Borders was preceded in death by her parents, Sebron Ross Sr. and Laura Dell Ross Smith , her brother Sebron Ross Jr. and her surrogate daughter Manuela Ramona Ross Hampton.

Borders leaves to cherish her memory: her loving, devoted husband, Marvin Borders; 6- daughters Laura Lenear Dorsey-Harris-Kissimmee FL, Pamela Alexander (Craig Mingo) – Rochester NY, Joyce Burwell (Darrell), Dorine Alexander (Howard Taylor)-Ocala FL, Cindy Joyce Littlepage – Sparta IL, Christal Williams (Rick) – Overland KS; 2-sons Allen Alexander Jr.-Ocala FL, Leonard Littlepage (Geraldine)-Joliet IL; 6 surrogate children Denise King (Willie)-Ocla FL, Marie Lester(Major)-Atlanta GA, Irene Elaine Mango (John) – Florissant MO, Patricia Standley (James)-Detroit MI, David Rushin –Michigan, Charlie Ross-Texas; 1 sister Odessa Barnes-Ocala FL, 1 sister-in-law, Marva Stricklind-Detroit MI a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
