Edwin Gajewski, Prayer Warrior Gone to Glory!

Edwin L Gajewski, 90, Orlando, FL went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on July 16, 1927 in Gary, IN, the son of Martin and Cecilia (Smurzynski) Gajewski. He was the last born of 10 children in a large Polish family. Edwin graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor degree in Music Education, with a minor in English and Speech.

Edwin was Vice President of Beihoff Music Company in Milwaukee, WI and also a band director at a Catholic Grade School, serving as President of the Catholic Bandmasters Association for several years. Clarinet was his primary instrument which he also played as leader of a Dixieland Dance Band.

On June 7, 1952, he married Nancy Jean Grady in Kewaunee, WI whose parents were Dr. Edwin (Doc) and Doris Grady. Nancy preceded him in death, August 8, 2014 so he is now reunited with his bride.

Edwin was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He and Nancy lived in Wauwatosa, WI prior to moving down to Orlando, FL in 1989. For many years they spent their retirement years split between Orlando and the family cottage on Clark's Lake in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Ed put his faith and trust in Jesus Christ at age 50 and became a member of Gideons International distributing Bibles in Wisconsin and Florida.

Ed's military service in the army began with him drafted out of high school. He went through basic training at Camp Atterbury and eventually became a corporal in the Adjutant General's office as an occupational counselor, helping those returning from service to secure work.

Survivors include his two daughters Wendy Gajewski (Proctor), Orlando, FL and Beth Partain, South Lyon, MI and her children Dr. Danielle Partain Geniesse (Matt), Colorado Springs, CO, Jason Partain (Katie - children Jack, Luke, Harry & William), South Lyon, MI, Michelle Partain, Ann Arbor MI, sister-in-law Hildy Grady of Sturgeon Bay, WI, nephew Paul (Donna) Grady, niece Kristin (Dale) Mitchell, Loretta Zack, niece, Leona Jackomis, niece, Apollo (Mickey) Mikolagak, nephew, Roberta Pleasant, niece, Larry Gajewski, nephew, Jerry Gajewski, nephew, Mary Hjerpe, niece, Michael Gajewski (Maggie), nephew, Nora Joyce Zale (Jim), niece, Ross Garritano, nephew, D'Andrea Garritano, (Sue), nephew.

Preceded in death are Jane Zakrzewski (William), sister, Helen Gajewski, sister, Anna Grochowski (Anthony), sister, Genevieve Mikolajak (Walter), sister, Casey Gajewski (Josephine), brother, Irene Garritano (Norman) brother, William Gajewski, brother, Steve Gajewski, brother, Al Gajewski, brother, Anthony Grochowski Jr. (Helen), nephew, Rosemary Garritano, niece, Joe Garritano, nephew, David Garritano, nephew.

A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, January 6, 2018, 1:00pm at First Baptist Church Orlando, Henry Chapel. A Celebration of Life service in Sturgeon Bay, WI, will be in the summer of 2018.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gideons International as this was Ed's passion and mission for over 35 years. He distributed thousands of Bibles to people so they could read God's Holy Word and know His plan of salvation. His favorite Bible verse was Micah 6:8 "He has shown thee, O man, what is good and what the Lord requires of thee. But to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.
