Edward "Eddie" Remus Smith of Ronco, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 6, 2026, with his loving
family by his sided. Edward was born on June 23, 1960, in Uniontown, PA., he was the beloved son of the
late Roberta Bell and Remus Edward Smith and a cherished member of a large and deeply loving family.
Eddie graduated from German Sr. High School in 1978 where he was a standout football player (#24)
where one coach stated, "On the football field, Ed was simply a force." He received a Bachelor of
Environmental Science with a minor in Chemistry/Biology from New Mexico Highlands University, Las
Vegas, NM and he was part of the Student Association Inc. at California University of Pennsylvania.
Eddie later worked at the Hatfield Power Station of Masontown, PA as a Reserve Operator. As a young
man, he had a passion for fishing and hunting.
Eddie left an indelible mark on our lives and the lives of everyone he touched. Eddie was known for his
resilience and strength, he carried forward the values of devotion and spirit that were the hallmark of his
family.
His warmth, humor, and presence created memories that his family will hold dear forever. We will miss
him profoundly, but we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with his beloved mother
Roberta and father Remus who preceded him in death. His light and memory will remain with us always.
Eddie was a devoted son, brother, uncle, friend and loving father. His legacy lives on through his loving
daughter, Nina Marie Smith of Pittsburgh, PA, four grandchildren and one great grandchild, he also
leaves behind his siblings: Leroy (Yvonne) Madison of Baltimore, MD; Harold (Melinda) Smith of Ronco,
PA; Alvin (Pam) Smith of Lewes, DE; Jessie Josey-Smith of Bel-Air, MD; Linda Smith of Ronco, PA;
Roberta Taylor of Ronco, PA; and Donald (Brenda) Smith of Uniontown, PA.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the doctors and caregivers who provided support and care
during his final days.
Friends and family will be received in the DeGusipe Funeral Home and Crematory, 65 N. Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, PA 15401, Stacey A. Dolfi, FD on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. A service will be held in the funeral home from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM. Interment is private.
