Obituary

Edward M. Rubich Jr, known to everyone as Mark, went to be with our Lord and Savior on March 11, 2014. He was born of Croatian-Polish heritage to the late Lt. Colonel Edward M. and Mary Ann Rubich on February 25, 1947 in Nashville, TN. Mark is survived by his wife, Holly, son Joshua and his wife Abby, granddaughters Tennie, Sloane, and Cela, sons Justin and Brandon, brother Jon and his wife Carol Ann. He is survived by loving cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends. As the son of an Air force pilot, Mark lived on a number of military bases including Scott AFB-Missouri, Andrews AFB-Maryland, Edwards AFB-California, MACTAN AFB-Cebu Philippines, Burderop Park AFB-England, Wiesbaden AFB, Germany, and McGuire AFB-New Jersey. He graduated from Northern Burlington High School in New Jersey after attending his early High School years in England and Germany. A graduate of Clemson University. Mark was Clemson's first All-American Soccer player in 1968, First team ACC 1968, 1969 and set several soccer records for the school, some of which still stand today. He was a respected recreational soccer coach and referee for Seminole Soccer Club. Over the years, he coached many teams of all ages, including those of his brother and three sons. Mark served 4 years in the U.S. Army, was a manager for The Electronics Store in both Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale, and in the later part of his life drove a taxi for Mears in Orlando. No one needed a GPS when Mark was around; He had a map in his head. In 1982, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and married the love of his life, Holly Sias of Deland, Florida, who recently retired from teaching with Seminole County Schools. As a valued member of "The Happy Hour" AA group in Longwood,FL, Mark was affectionately known as "Taxi Cab Mark". He was a member of Lakeview Christian Church in Apopka, renamed Journey Christian Church. Mark was known to many as a passionate armchair conservative and sports enthusiast. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and those who came to know his loving, gracious and thankful heart over the last few years.

A service & reception to honor him will be held on March 16, 2014 at Journey Church located at 1965 Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, FL 32703 at 5:30pm.
