Edward J. Gala, 91, of Altamonte Springs, FL, formerly of Rochester, NY died peacefully on March 2nd, 2018. He was born on June 11th, 1926, in Rochester, NY.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Frances R. Gala.
He is survived by his children: Barbara J. Warburton of Orlando, FL, Nancy G. Gordon (Thomas) of Orlando, FL, Michelle R. Ward (Christopher) of Tempe, AZ, and Edward A. Gala (Luanne née Muscarella) of Rochester, NY; Grandchildren: Steven M. Warburton (Tabatha), Thomas G. Gordon, Casey L. Ward, Michael J. Gala (Allison), Lauren M. Gala, Alison E. Gala, Joseph J. Gala, Samuel E. Gala, and Grace A.F. Gala; Great-Grandchildren: Benjamin, Luke, and Anthony
He served in the Pacific Theatre of World War 2 during its final year as a Private in the U.S. Army. He married Frances Romagnolo, the love of his life, in 1951, and they were blessed with four children. After working at Kodak for many years, he retired and the two of them split their time between the Finger Lakes region of New York and Central Florida. He was a devout Catholic, canine enthusiast, a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and will be remembered especially for his inquisitive disposition.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church (861 Maitland Ave, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701) on Tuesday March 6th, 2018 at 10:00AM; all are welcome to attend. Internment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens (3329 E Semoran Blvd, Apopka, FL 32703) with military honors.
