Eduardo Lopategui passed peacefully in hospice on the 25th of February, 2018. He died on a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon after his decade-long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 68.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Eduardo migrated to the US mainland in the late seventies, to work in New York City while living across the Hudson in New Jersey. He would spend the bulk of the following 3 decades in Texas before finally settling in shared residency between Florida and the island of his birth.

Eduardo had a talent for corporate accounting and built a career culminating in his role as Chief Financial Officer of Fischbach and Moore, and subsequently founded his own financial consulting company.

He cherished his three children, loved the music of the Beatles (having played in a Beatles cover band in his youth), and was an unwavering fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He also cooked a mean breakfast and enjoyed weekend afternoons supervising the BBQ.

Eduardo is survived and forever remembered by his wife Cherie, his son Edward, his daughters Gianina and Katrina, his grandson Flynn, his granddaughter Liv, his sister Ita, and all his nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Bartolome, his mother Margarita, his brother Alberto and his sister Mabel.

His remains will eventually be returned home to the island of Puerto Rico once recovery from the devastation of Hurricane Maria has run its course.

Today, over 35 million people across the world are living with Alzheimer's, including more than 5 million Americans. The disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the US, and is an illness with neither treatment nor cure.
