He is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years Barbara Jacobs, his parents Charles and Mary, sisters Florence and Elenore and half-brother Austin.

Edsel was born on December 22nd 1924 in Detroit Michigan and was raised in Roseville residing off of Eleven mile road. His father passed away when he was nine, while still in school. He was very proud to be a paperboy for the Detroit News and worked his way up to route manager. He graduated from Roseville High School in 1943, where he lettered in basketball and baseball. A week after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was part of the 97th Trident Division and fought in Europe under Gen. George Patton's 3rd Army. His Unit was credited for the last shot fired in the European theatre. The 97th was then shipped to the Pacific theatre and participated in liberation duties. After the war, he came back to Roseville where he was employed with Michigan Bell as a linesman. He attended Lawrence Institute of Technology and attained the title of Engineer with Michigan Bell, where he worked for 35 years.

He met and married his wife of Centerline Michigan, Barbara Jacobs in 1951. In 1954 he helped build a cottage in Sand Point Michigan, where his family spent weekends and summers to this day.

He will be greatly missed by all including the many friends and caregivers he met while residing in recent years at Watercrest Assisted Living in Winter Park, FL.

He was without doubt, a true gentleman...reserved, grateful, kind, caring and never seen without a big warm smile. All those who knew him will remember his goodbye words following a visit... "Bye for now".

Edsel will be interred at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at a later date.
