Edmund was born on July 14, 1927 in Buffalo New York to Michal Swiatosz and Wiktorya Swiatosz (Branjczyk). He was one of seven children.
After graduating from Burgard High School in Buffalo, NY, Ed enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Colorado in the Pacific region during World War II. Upon leaving the Navy, Ed earned a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Buffalo.
On October 17, 1953, Ed married the love of his life Margaret Lupp. The couple moved to Venezuela and stayed three years while Ed worked for Mene Grande Oil Company.
The couple moved back to Buffalo and started their family of three loving children. While working at Sylvania Systems Division Ed continued his education, earning a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from State University of New York.
In 1966, he and Marge settled in Maitland, Florida, where he was employed by Martin Marietta Corporation. He then became a Research Team Leader for the Naval Training Equipment Center, developing numerous patents and receiving awards for his contributions. During his distinguished career Ed continued taking graduate courses at the University of Florida and the University of Central Florida. After retirement, Ed started a business, where he patented and marketed a portable smoke generator.
Ed will be remembered for his love of his family, gentle sense of humor, skill in mathematics and engineering, commitment to life long learning, and support of St. Mary Magdalen Church. Ed and Marge enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, playing bridge, traveling, and watching movies together. Ed was an avid Orlando Magic fan, following the team since its' inception, through the good and bad times.
Ed will be missed by his wife of 66 years, Marge; children, Susan, Mark and Judy; son-in-law Richard; grandchildren Sean and Ian; and his nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Church on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 11am.
