Obituary

Earl Gregory passed away peacefully on Friday, June 10 in his home in Sanford, Florida. Earl was originally from Atmore, Alabama where he was born to Jack and Emma Gregory on December 23, 1924. As one of seven children during the Great Depression, Earl learned the value of saving money at an early age and carried that value throughout his life.

Earl served in the Navy from 1939-1943. He has driven trucks, sold insurance and worked as an accountant, but worked most of his adult years as a conductor for the CSX Railroad from which he retired in 1987. He met his wife of 70 years, Bertha Lang, while she was walking to her work in a drugstore in 1946. Together they lived in Winter Haven and Sanford before moving to Lake Mary where they lived for almost 60 years. Some of Earl's favorite activities included shuffleboard, playing pool and different card games. He loved to tell jokes and go fishing, spending many hours doing both. One of the things of which he was most proud was his service to his church, Westview Baptist Church, where he was a long-time deacon and treasurer.

Earl is survived by his wife Bertha and their children: Mark Gregory (Phyllis), Karen Gregory Moore (Philip), Kelly Gregory (George), and Tracy Gregory Ketring (Brent); 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 15 from 12-1 at Westview Baptist Church, 4100 County Road 46, Sanford, Florida with the service following at 1 pm. A graveside service will follow immediately at Lake Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Earl's name to Westview Baptist Church or his hospice service Vitas.

Funeral services will be provided by DeGusipe Funeral Home of Sanford.
