Obituary

In loving memory of Dorothy Dolores Wilson (12-1-1934 to 2-1-2025).

Dorothy passed away peacefully in Sanford, FL, from natural causes. Dorothy turned 90 recently, and we cherish the time we had with her. She was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother, and spent her life caring for others. Her unwavering dedication to her faith in God guided her life which exemplified Christian values.

She is survived by her children, Donna Leggat and husband, Bruce Leggat, Linda Denson, Angela Jennings and husband Dean Jennings, and Amanda Haynes. She treasured her grandchildren, George Donaho, Caitlyn Haynes, Jordan Brunsman, and was preceded in death by beloved Brennan Haynes.

Dorothy was born in Norfolk, VA, and her parents were Dorsey Richard Smith and Irma Louise Bone-Smith. She is from a very large family with many siblings, and grew up in Chesapeake, VA area. Dorothy cherished and had fond memories and stories to tell about her parents and many siblings including Ginny, William, Norman, Leslie, Ann, and Mary, and preceded in death by Sylvia, Martha, Grady, Warren, Irving, Maurice, Lucille, and Marjorie.

Dorothy graduated from Kempsville High School in 1953 and moved to Texas where she married James Robert (Bob) Wilson in 1954. They started their family and moved where Bob's career took them, Virginia, North Carolina, Texas and Florida.

Dorothy had many interests and hobbies. She was a wonderful teacher, always helping her children and grandchildren excel in their studies. Her love of music was an inspiration to us all. She loved to sing and play piano and keyboard and encouraged her children to play instruments and sing. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, painting and crafts, gardening, and she was an amazing cook, still preparing delicious meals at 90. She loved to read the bible and write in her journal. Dorothy was also adored by her friends and neighbors, and she would always try to help anyone in need. She was humble and grateful for everyone in her life and often wrote letters and cards to loved ones.

Dorothy's memory will remain in the hearts of her family and friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

The Promise

Fear thou not I am with you
Blessed golden rays
Like a star of glory
Shining up my way
Through the clouds of midnight
This bright promise shown
I will never leave you
Never will leave you alone.
