Dorothy Vatter Connolly, age 97, passed away peacefully at her home in Ocoee, Florida, on
Friday, March 27, 2026.
Born on October 31, 1928, in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, Dorothy lived a long and full life
marked by devotion to her family, a strong work ethic, and a knack for making friends. She was the beloved wife of the late Edmund Thomas Connolly, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage prior to his passing.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Janet Connolly Kay and her husband, Len, and Thomas Francis Connolly and his wife, Tracy Campbell Connolly. She was a proud grandmother to Samantha Connolly and Eric Connolly. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Vatter and his wife, Shirley.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her stepson, Paul Connolly.
Dorothy built a successful career as an executive secretary, first with Allegheny Airlines—later known as US Air—and later with the Florida Homebuilders Association. In her retirement years, she enjoyed working
alongside her husband at the Palm Beach Kennel Club, and was President and then bookkeeper for Ports O'Call condominium in North Palm Beach, FL.
Dorothy was a member of the Crown of Glory Lutheran Church in Orlando, FL where she found wonderful people and made many new friends.
She will be remembered for her many talents and passions. Dorothy loved to bake, and her cookies were considered "world famous" by all who had the pleasure of tasting them. She also had a playful and curious spirit, enjoying video games—especially the original Atari—well into her later years.
Above all, Dorothy will be remembered for her love of family, her kindness, and the joy she brought to those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and lasting memories.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2026 at 12:30 pm at DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory - West Orange Chapel, 1400 Matthew Paris Blvd, Ocoee, FL 34761 with Pastor Jon Bitter officiating.
The family will receive visitors preceding the service on Sunday, March 27 from 12:00 pm to
12:30 pm at the funeral home.
