Doris Van-Sertima died peacefully in Lake Bennet Rehab Center on April 24, 2025, Ocoee, Florida at the age of 99 years and 10 months
Doris survives by her children, Mala, Lenny, Debbie, Valya, Guy, Audrey, and Andrea. Her grandchildren, Devika, Bryan, Delon, Daniel, Derrick, Allison, Alisha, Guy II, Ariel, Ariana, Darshan "Billy", Rommel, Raul, Anne, Anita, Jason, Ricardo, Mark and Darshan. Her siblings, Esther and Frank; Her caring and nurturing daughter-in-laws Leonida (Tita) and Seeta Loving Son-in-Law Robert. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Seepersaud. Siblings Valerie, Sidney, Charles, John, and her grandchild, Dave.
Doris was born on July 7, 1925, in Georgetown, Guyana to Ewart V. Van-Sertima and Lena Narine. She was married to Harry Seepersaud. She achieved the President's Volunteer Service Award from George W. Bush for giving 4,000 hours to her community. She also was a CNA and Teachers Aid for handicapped children for 10 plus years.
She has 20 great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild, Cristyana.
A funeral is scheduled for April 30th, 2025
