Doris was born and raised on a dairy farm in Verona Wisconsin, the youngest daughter of Albert and Catherine Rhiner. In her early twenties she moved to Florida and worked for National Airlines. She then went to work for the Miami Police Department as a dispatcher and then as a key punch operator.

She met and married William Harries, a police officer. They were married until his death in 1992.

They enjoyed traveling, golf and tennis together. After his death she became an accomplished bowler with a high game of 218, at the age of 91.
When she lost her sight to macular degeneration she joined the Blind bowlers league in Daytona Beach.

Doris was predeceased by her parents Albert and Catherine, sisters Pauline Rhiner and Alice Gjesvold. She is survived by her son William Harries and his wife Susan, grandchildren Jeffrey (Charisma), Nicole Finch (Mike). Great grandchildren Leilani, Meilani, Keilani, Jeilani Harries, Arya Finch.

Burial will be in Wisconsin at a later date.
