Obituary

Doreen Marie Carney, April 6, 1956 – September 20, 2021.
Doreen was born in Waterbury, Connecticut and moved to Florida in her teens. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Eckerd College and her MBA from the University of Phoenix. She was employed at USAA Insurance for 36 years, retiring in 2021. During her time as a Manager, she trained and mentored many employees, going the extra mile and becoming their friend.

Doreen was a member of Transfiguration Parish from 1983 until its closing in October of 2019. She joined St. Paul's the next week. During her years at Transfiguration Doreen volunteered on many ministries and Parish Council: music ministry, Environmental Committee, Mom's & Dad's Club, Pansa Council, Festival Committee, Mother's Outreach Movement and Schoenstatt. For many years Doreen and her husband donated and prepared the annual Thanksgiving dinner for the Parish.

Doreen loved to travel with her husband, sons, friends and coworkers. She felt blessed to visit Rome, Paris, London and also many states from coast to coast in the USA.
Doreen was an excellent cook and food planner, lending her expertise to anyone planning a gathering. Her cakes were a treat for everyone.

Her greatest joy for this past year was spending time with her family and especially time with her grandson Ronan. She also enjoyed sunsets at Pass A Grill beach with friends.

Doreen was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lanouette (2012) and Irene Lanouette (1993) and her brothers William and Jack. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Thomas K. Carney, her sons, Michael (Cheryl) Knight, Sean (Lara) McDevitt, her grandson, Ronan McDevitt and her best friend for more than 35 years, JoAnne (Don) Kopitsky.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul's Catholic Church on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 9:30 A.M.
