Donald W. Nicholas of Sanford, FL passed peacefully on March 3, 2024, and was promoted to Heaven. He was 75 years old.
Don is survived by his wife of 53 years Beth and sons Joe (Melisa), John (Gretchen), three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his loving parents Joe and Mildred Nicholas.
Don was born September 1, 1948 in Jacksonville, Florida. He moved to Sanford at age 3 and has remained there ever since. He graduated from Seminole High School in 1966 and went off to college at Murray State University where he earned an MBA and met the love of his life, Beth Huffman. He and Beth were married in 1970.
Upon returning to Sanford, Don worked at Seminole Community College as a purchasing agent, was Director of Maintenance for Seminole County Public School System and worked in the Finance department of Seminole County Public Schools until he retired in 2002. He was active in his church and with his grandchildren. He also loved to get in a round of golf whenever possible.
A memorial service will be held at Westview Baptist Church where Don was a regular attender. The service will be on Saturday, March 9th at 2pm.
Don will be remembered as one of the most caring and generous people a person could meet. His love for his family knew no boundaries. His memory will be cherished forever by all those who met and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in his name to VITAS Healthcare (hospice) or to The Salvation Army.
