Luce, Donald Donald William Luce, 89, of Fern Park, FL. passed away on Saturday, March 22. He was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Luce; mother, Grace Pardieck Luce; brother, Raymond Luce; and sister, Grace Luce Scharr. He is survived by his wife, Florence Whitham Luce; daughters Janet Bouman (Stephen), Beverly Bauder (John), Connie Mills (Ken), son, Jim Luce (Carol), 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Don was born in Detroit, MI on July 31, 1924. He joined the US Navy in 1944 and served in World War II. He married his wife of 68 years, Florence, on July 5, 1945. Don was an employee of Wayne County, MI for 30 years and held the position of Business Manager of Detroit Metropolitan Airport upon his retirement in 1973. In 1974 Don, Florence, and their son moved to Altamonte Springs, FL. Don will most be remembered as a man of Faith and Family. He was an active member in the Lutheran Church his entire life. He held many church offices and served on the Board of Elders in several congregations. He was most passionate about the ministry of Evangelism. Don devoted his life to spreading the Gospel of God's love and salvation to everyone he met. He lived the example of a Christ-like life in his words and actions. People were drawn to him by his sense of humor and the genuine care he displayed to those he came in contact with. While he will be missed by his family and all who love him, we rejoice that he has now received his Heavenly reward. "Well done, good and faithful servant!" A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, March 29th at Ascension Lutheran Church, 351 Ascension Dr, Casselberry, FL 32707. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Ascension Lutheran Preschool.
