Mr. Donald Phillip Dodgion, age 67 of Casselberry, Florida passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 in Casselberry, Florida. Donald was born in Pulaski, Virginia to Elbert Howard Dodgion and Allie Mabry. He is survived by his wife Barbara Best Dodgion; stepchildren Kelly Davidson and Robin Callahan; grandchildren Quinn Faherty Davidson, Paul Callahan and Marianna Callahan; brother Ed Dodgion, sister-in-law Susan Dodgion and nephew Christopher Dodgion; and sister Winnie Dodgion.

In remembrance of Don from his wife Barbara:

Don gave his best in everything that he did, from his commitment to the military, service in the Vietnam War, to his over twenty years of loyalty to Rollins College managing the telecommunications systems.

It was our time at Rollins College that brought us together. Our mutual friend at Rollins, Candy, knew that we were a good match, and she set us up socially at the Winter Park Arts Festival. Don followed up with a call and lunch, and learning that I had something broken in my home, he immediately volunteered to fix it for me -- from there we just built a wonderful relationship navigating life together.

Don was so caring in every way. He always put my needs and wishes above his. There is nothing that he wouldn't do to express his love for me. He was very reserved, but reached out to people by offering practical help. Don showed his love by helping to meet the needs of others -- moving friends and family, painting your home, fixing anything that was broken; you always could count on Don for the tough jobs. Don took satisfaction in lightening the load of those for whom he cared.

Sharing the simple things of life brought us great joy. We had many adventures; bird watching, walking through the forest, playing with our wild cats, watching our garden grow, to fishing at the beach, enjoying the peaceful sound of the waves and the beautiful sky.

I will miss our shared laughter and our inside jokes. Don made my life a joy every day. He will be deeply missed by us all.

Inurnment will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL on July 7, 2020 at 3:00 pm.
