AMADIO, Dominic Edward was born June 3, 1941 at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond, IN and passed away peacefully at his home on March 16, 2024. Mr. Amadio spent his early childhood attending Lincoln Elementary in Calumet City, IL. He attended Morgan Park Military Academy in Chicago, IL from 6th-12th grade, graduating with the rank of Captain on Battalion Staff and Honor Roll (1959). At Morgan Park, he was affectionately known as "Mott's", a nickname that remained thru college. He so cherished his time at Morgan Park that till this day he considers many of his classmates as true friends' and brothers'. After high school graduation he attended Sullivan Preparatory School in Washington D.C. (1959-1960). From 1960 to 1964 he attended the University of Virginia (UVA), referred to at the time as " The University". He achieved Honor Roll and graduated with a degree in History and Political Science. During his time at UVA, he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. His bond to his beloved fraternity continued throughout his life, enjoying annual reunions with men he considered true friends' and brothers' as well. He was also a member of the Virginia Glee Club (1960-1961), the Newman Club, Skill and Keys and the P.K. Society. His love for "The University" is reflective in naming his eldest daughter affectionately "Virginia." Upon graduation from UVA, he attended law school at American University, Washington College of Law, from which he received his Juris Doctor in 1968. At American University he was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Legal fraternity. While in law school he worked for the Woman's Bureau, Department of Labor. At that time, he was the only male on staff and fondly remembered presenting to and meeting Gloria Steinem.


He moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1968 to practice law, start a family and be close to his mother, father and brother, whom had previously relocated. Mr. Amadio practiced law in St. Petersburg for over 50 years and served as counsel for over 400 trials in numerous aspects of litigation. He was recently recognized by the Florida Bar Association for his 50 [+] years of commitment and dedication to the practice of law. He was fondly known in and around the courthouse as "Dapper Dom" due to impeccable dress. During his time as an attorney he was the Town Attorney of Indian Shores 1974-1983; District Attorney for the Indian Rocks Special Fire Control District 1974-1985; District Attorney for the Ozona-Palm Harbor Crystal Beach Special Fire Control District 1978-1983; Town Attorney for Redington Beach 1988-2007; Hearing Officer for the Pinellas County School Board 1990-1993; Special Master for the Town of Redington Shores 2003-2010; Ordinance Prosecutor for Kenneth City 2007-2008; current member of the Florida Bar Association; St. Petersburg Bar Association; former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the following organizations: Juvenile Services Program, St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce Central Plaza Area Task Force, March of Dimes in Pinellas County, and the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce; former Board of Directors of Pinellas County Restaurant Association; former President of the Seminole Lake Country Club Estates Homeowner's Association, Inc.; former member of the following Professional Associations: Pinellas County Condominium Owner's Association and the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Community Policing Institute; former member of the following social clubs: the Italian American Club of St. Petersburg, the Son's of Italy, Italian Bar Association, St. Petersburg Yacht Club, Rotary Club, and Sertoma Club.


In addition, Mr. Amadio received countless plaques and awards of recognition for his dedication and outstanding service to Professional Associations, Professional Boards, Social Clubs and his community. Mr. Amadio was also an owner and developer of Shakey's Pizza Parlors in St. Petersburg, Clearwater and Lakeland, Brother Billy's Bar-B-Que in Clearwater, Dominic's Italian Restaurant St. Petersburg and Dominic's on the Beach St. Pete Beach, Venice Imported Food St. Petersburg, and the Ramada Campground on Lake Tarpon Clearwater.


Dominic has a vibrant personality, intelligent, disciplined, honest, loyal, fair, charitable and FUN! A zest for life, never staying idle. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, dear friends and his dog Puffy. He was passionate about tracing his Italian roots; his many travels around the world and within the USA; Cruise vacations; Italian cuisine and eating food from different cultures; musicals; history; learning; snow skiing; whitewater rafting; tubing; grilling; camping; dancing at Billy's Stone Crab; working out(silver sneakers); and shopping. He enjoyed collegiate sports and was an avid fan of the UVA Cavaliers and FSU Seminoles football and basketball programs. Wahoowa Dominic! Dominic is dearly loved by his family and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his parent's Americo (Doc) and Mary Ann (Mamie) Amadio. He is survived by his beloved daughters Virginia (Ginger) Martinez (Dr. Jesus Martinez, Jr.) and Caroline (Cary) Fiorillo; grandchildren Victoria Ansley Martinez, Viana Alexandria Martinez, Jakob Adin Martinez, David Alexander Fiorillo, Caroline Abigail Fiorillo and Peter Auguste Fiorillo; brother Thomas Amadio (Kimberly); niece Aubrey Amadio and nephew Brian Amadio; his ex-wife Jacqueline Amadio; and his dog Puffy Ly Amadio.


Visitation will be held on April 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeGusipe Funeral Home, 3530 49th Street N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710. The Funeral service will be held on April 4th at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 445 82nd Ave, St. Pete Beach, FL 33706. Burial following the Funeral service at Royal Palm Cemetery 101 55th Street South, St Petersburg, FL 33707. A Celebration of Life will be held following the burial at The Links Club House, 9150 Park Blvd, Seminole, FL 33777.
