Obituary

Dixy G. Rhea died peacefully at her home in Lake Mary, FL, on November 4th at the age of 72.

Born in Monticello, Illinois, she was the daughter of Robert and Edna Gaumer. After graduating from Parkland College with a degree in dental hygiene, she practiced for 22 years.

Having had several dogs through the years, Dixy had a passion for her animals. She loved to dance and enjoyed music. Most of all Dixy loved to laugh. Her Catholic Faith brought her comfort and courage as she entered her final chapter of a long battle with cancer.

She is survived by her loving husband John Rhea, sisters Barbara Zindars and Rita Gaumer. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Eloise Raeder and husband Kurt, Katherine Hoffman and husband Ed, Teresa Haws and husband George, and Ruth Rhea, and many nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, and Daryl and Helen Rhea, brothers-in-law, Daryl Jr., David, Gregory, and Bruce Rhea.

The funeral Mass is scheduled for November 13, 2025 at 1:30 pm at All Souls Catholic Church located on HWY 46, Sanford FL.
