Digna Gonzalez, 84, was born on September 22, 1941 in the Dominican Republic. She
passed peacefully on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026 in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Digna was preceded in death by her mother, Amalia Martinez Baez, her father, Otilio
Ortiz, son, Jesus Tejeda and daughter, Ninive C. Petrocelli. She is survived by her
husband of 63 years, Cristino Gonzalez; her children, Blas E. Tejeda (Sarita), Evelyn
Gonzalez, Juliza Gonzalez (Rafael) and Moises Gonzalez. She raised her family in
New York City.
She was a devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren; Ismael Tejeda, Raquel Tejeda,
Gary C. Brown, David Brown, Elvis Montesino, Natalie B. Paolicelli and Michael
Gonzalez. Digna was blessed with seven great-grandchildren, seven siblings with
nieces, nephews and treasured friends.
She was a seamstress by trade and one of the most loving, caring, generous, kind and
beautiful souls to walk this Earth. She had a gift of making people feel special. Digna
was very devoted to her family's well being. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, music,
the outdoors, playing bingo and eating crab legs.
As a devout Catholic and member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Bronx,
New York for many years and then of Nativity Catholic Church in Longwood, Florida,
Digna's belief and trust in Jesus was unwavering. Her life Bible verse being Psalm 91
"Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the
Almighty…….". Her life testimony, witty and feisty personality carried her through life
and impacted many. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter and lasting
memories.
A mass will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Nativity Catholic Church,
3255 N. Ronald Reagan Blvd, Longwood, Florida 32750.
The family will receive visitors preceding the mass on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from
1:00 pm. – 2:00 p.m. at the church.
