Our beloved Derek Scott Hixson “Scotty” of Winter Park, FL passed away due to a heart attack on October 4, 2026. He was born August 30, 1966, in McMinnville, TN and died at the age of 60 in Orlando, FL. Scotty will forever be loved and remember by his family and friends for his helping hand and caring heart.
He is lived on by his wife Anastasia Hixson, his son Corey Hixson, and his daughter Brandy Hixson of Florida. His granddaughter Joanna and his son-in-law Zack. His Brothers, Rick Hillis, his wife Wendy and their children Clayton and Faith of Alabama,Ray Hixson, his wife Anna and their children Alex of Tennessee, Chris of Florida. Also, his nieces Cassie and Tori of Florida and his nephew, Mason of New York.
Derek is preceded in death by his mother Marlene Louise Fox, his father William Albert Hixson and his brother William Gregory Hixson.
For those who knew him, Scotty was a lot of things to a lot of people. He extended his helping hand and knowledge to everyone who needed it and to some that didn’t deserve it. He was known as the helpful man on Nicholson Dr. and loved by his neighbors. His titles included, Husband, Father, Best Friend, Brother, Friend, and most importantly “PaPaw”. The lasting impact he had on everyone’s life ranges from being a listening ear to the cook to the guy everyone could count on.
His love of music, motorcycles, cooking, gardening, and of course the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will forever continue to be shared with family and friends. He was family man and honesty, respect and common sense were very important to him.
He will be forever loved and missed.
