Blanner, Debra Drake, (Debi), 67 of Winter Park, Florida passed away on January 1, 2019.
She was born on July 25, 1951 in Miami, Florida and was a devoted mother,
grandmother (Omi), sister, and friend.
Debi dedicated her life to teaching children as a Sunday school teacher, YMCA counselor, tennis, cheerleading, and soccer coach, and a high school German teacher. She taught at Titusville High School for 40 years. During her tenure she received many awards and accolades including Teacher of the Year and Florida Foreign Language Teacher of the Year multiple times. Her German Club was one of the largest in the state and her students excelled during state wide German Language competition. Mrs. (Frau) Blanner was a student favorite and many students attribute their success to her guidance.
Debi is survived by her son Gregory Blanner, his wife Anabell Montes Blanner, grandson Valentine Blanner, two sisters Dale Walker and Renee Phares and her husband Ray. Surviving nieces and nephews include Adam Walker, Ashley Walker and Christopher Phares. She is also survived by cousins Virginia Bryant, Gordon (G) Drake, Stephanie Curtis Swantrom and Frederick G. Curtis. She was preceded in death by daughter Kelly Blanner and her parents.
A memorial service will be celebrated Saturday January 26, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Christ Unity Church in Orlando, FL. The church is located at 771 Holden Ave, Orlando, FL 32839
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brevard Schools Foundation or the charity of your choice in memory of Debra Blanner.
