Debbie died on March 2, 2024, and is survived by her spouse of thirteen years, Ray Kerker of Seminole, FL. She has two sons, Shawn and Andrew Kerkes of Columbus, Ohio and a stepson Jeff Belll and Theresa Statinski of Clearwater FL. Her brother Rick Wynkoop lives in Columbus, Ohio. She has 3 granddaughters Tristan Kerkes, Cassidy Kerkes and Janel Fann. Debbie graduated from Delaware Hayes High School in 1965. She began her nursing career at Riverside Hospital where she was a surgical nurse for 32 years. She moved to Clearwater and was a charge nurse at Morton Plant hospital for five years after which she devoted thirteen years at St. Petersburg General Hospital. Still showing dedication to help others, she volunteered at the Clearwater Free Clinic until December 2023. She loved a challenge and rose to Senior Regent with Women of the Moose (Largo Chapter) working on various committees. She learned to ride a tandem bicycle and logged 6200 miles on the Pinellas trail and outlying towns with her husband Ray and the two dogs, riding in backpacks. She was a devout Roman Catholic and supported her husband with community projects including, serving residents at Pinellas Hope at Christmas and Angel Tree gifts for needy families. She loved to decorate the lawn with flowers and many Christmas ornaments inside the home. Holidays were celebrated with her sister Becky Rhodes and Catlyn her favorite niece along with nephews, Chad Rhodes and Zachary Valentine. Another circle of friends were Silver Sneakers members at the YMCA. Debbie had a zest for life that inspired others to do their best and we are sure that she is now having fun with the Communion of Saints in heaven. May we follow her example and see the face of Christ in others. A celebration of life will be held at St. Matthews Catholic Church on Friday March 15th at 11:00 am (9111 90th Avenue, Largo, FL 33777) A graveside commitment will follow at 3:00 pm at Bay Pines Veterans cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Bay Area Pregnancy Center or Women with Purpose Organization.
