David Talbert

On Thursday, January 5, LTC David A. Talbert, US Army Retired, a beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away. He was 78 years old. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, David grew up in South Florida where he graduated from Pompano High School and then from the University of Tampa. David was drafted into the Army and sent to OCS where he began his career serving twenty seven years.

While serving in Vietnam he was severely injured and was taken to a MASH unit where he was to meet his future wife, 2Lt.Sondra Mathay; although neither was looking to get married they recognized something special in each other and were married two weeks later on December 10, 1967, a year later they welcomed their only children, twins Jennifer and Janice. In 2022 they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

David's career in the military took them all over the world including many tours of duty in Saudi Arabia. He was extremely proud of his career and the opportunities he was able to give his family to see the world.

David leaves behind his wife Sondra (aka Soni), daughters Janice Talbert and Jennifer Talbert Foster (husband Todd), grandchildren Sydney and Bryce Foster.

David was best known as a kind, determined man and a friend to many over the years. He always put others ahead of himself.

He would always leave you with these few words; "May your day only get better!"
