David James Stanford passed away after a short illness on Dec 13, 2022. He was born in Orlando, FL on June 23, 1930 to Clarence and Edith Stanford. He is survived by his children, Leslie Warden (George) and Steve Stanford (Ginnie), four grandchildren, David M. Stanford (Jessica), Lindsay Pearson (Talmadge), Derek Warden, and Conner Stanford, and one great granddaughter, Olivia Pearson.
David was a 5th generation resident of the Winter Garden and Oakland communities. Throughout their 65 years of marriage, he and his beloved wife, Fran, enjoyed traveling, golf, tennis, and time with friends and family.
He worked for many years for the Winter Garden Citrus Products Cooperative. After retirement, he served on the board of Health Central Hospital and as Chairman of the Board for Farm Credit of Central Florida. He was an Elder Emeritus of Oakland Presbyterian Church, where he worshiped his entire life and led The Forum Sunday School class for many years.
Dave deeply loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his church, his family, his friends, the Florida Gators, puns, rice, and salt. He also had a passion for the community he lived in, and relished any opportunity to share his bountiful knowledge of Central Florida history.
He was truly an example of how one should live an upstanding life as a good Christian man and will be deeply missed by those who knew him well.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 20th at 2:00pm at Oakland Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to:
