David Earl Opgenorth (76) peacefully went to be with Jesus on September 8, 2023. David was born on April 29, 1947, the son of Roland and Mabel Opgenorth of Sheboygan, WI. He graduated from Sheboygan South High School with the class of 1965. From April 1968-April 1972, he served in the United States Air Force as Electronics Intercept Operations with a tour in Japan.On August 4, 1973, he married Jerilyn Ione Stocksett at Calvary Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN and they just celebrated 50 years of marriage. David then continued his education graduating in June 1974 with a bachelor's degree from Northwestern Electronics Institute. David's career included working at Protection One Security and retiring from Protection One as a security systems installer.David was a quiet gentle loving man with a strong faith and work ethic. He was a dedicated member of City Church of Sanford Florida. Survivors include his wife Jerilyn, brother Allan (Marianne) Opgenorth, of Howards Grove, WI, Godchild Angela (Michael) Blevins and their children Xavier and Xander of Milwaukee, WI, Niece Tricia Opgenorth of Portland, OR, brother-in-law Wendell Stocksett and sister-in-law Evangeline Ginkel. David was preceded in death by his parents Roland & Mabel Opgenorth, Uncle Harvey Opgenorth, inlaws Joseph & Charlotte Stocksett and sister-in-laws Iris Mae Carmack and Lavonne Borsheim.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 18th from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, at Degusipe Funeral Home, 905 Laurel Avenue, Sanford, FL. Service to follow with Pastor Christina Williams of City Church officiating. Burial will be Tuesday, September 19th at 1:00 PM at Cape Canaveral Veterans Cemetery.
