David Lawrence Marsh, age 66, of Ocoee, Florida passed away on July 12, 2017 after an unexpected heart attack. He was born December 23, 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Robert and Lucille Marsh. After graduating from Tuloso-Midway High School, Class of 1969, he attended Texas A&I University. From there, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and his tours of duty included everything from Vietnam to Desert Storm. After 22 years of service, he honorably retired with the rank of Technical Sergeant. His next career took him across the country as a long haul truck driver.
No matter where he called home, David made friends. His career took him around the globe. From Texas he traveled and lived in New Mexico, Idaho, Thailand, New Hampshire, Germany, Utah, Washington State, and finally in Florida. He had fond memories of his home in Shelton, Washington where he spent many an evening on the deck taking in the view of the lake and watching an eagle which lived in a nearby tree on his property. After reuniting with his lifelong friend, Marty Gentry Stauss, at a High School reunion, he decided to return to the Lone Star State. They married June 1, 2012 and enjoyed five wonderful years together.
After moving to Florida, he enjoyed the daily fellowship of his friends in the Breakfast Club of Ocoee. David enjoyed nature so his hobbies before COPD included all outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping and travelling. Then he took a new appreciation for lakes, theatre, and chatting with long time friends. He enjoyed people watching and most of all spending time with his family. David loved to be with his pets: a rat terrier (Bear), a Chihuahua (Sophie), and two cats (Bearcat and Pebbles). He spent much time sitting on the back porch watching the never ending chase of the birds, squirrels, and lizards.
David was a loving husband and father, who also had the honor of being an uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. A truly caring man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him and will never be forgotten. Always willing to help, lend an ear, encourage others, and be a friend.
David is survived by his wife Marty; daughter DeAnna (Patrick) Savage; son Matthew (Elizabeth) Marsh; stepson Aaron (Megan) Stauss; grandchildren: BriAnna and Colten Savage, Jazlyn Gallishaw, Blair Marsh, Logan and Dakota Marsh, and Meagan Stauss; one great-grandson, Roman Savage; brother Donald Marsh; the mother of his children, Jeanne Bartlett LaMar; as well as many relatives and long time friends. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Alex Savage, as well as both of his parents.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5 pm Saturday, July 29, 2017 at West Orlando Baptist Church, 1006 East Crown Point Road, Ocoee, Florida 34761.
