Danny O. Bowen, 64 of Osteen Florida, went home to meet his Lord on February 2, 2015. Danny, a devoted husband, father and friend passed away with his wife by his side in Sanford, Florida. Danny was born in Charleston, West Virginia on February 12, 1950 to Herman and Marie Bowen. His family moved to Central Florida in the 1961 and eventually established their home in Osteen, Florida. Danny graduated from Deland High School in 1968 and enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Danny returned home where he worked shortly for the railroad in Sanford before finding his calling as a Firefighter. Danny was employed with the Seminole County Fire Department from 1975 to 2003 where he served as a Lieutenant. Danny was lifetime member of the Osteen Volunteer Fire Department where he served 25 years as the Fire Chief. After retiring Danny married his wife, Tonda, in 2006. Danny was an avid outdoorsman where he had a passion for fishing and hunting. Danny and his wife spent countless hours traveling on their Harley Davidson and fishing on the Indian River. Danny touched countless lives during his career and life with his dedication, compassion, and humor. His determination and willingness to help others made him an invaluable person to everyone around him. He served as a role model and directed many young men and women in the fire service. He was a second father to many of his co-workers throughout the years and provided reassurance and confidence in their times of need. Danny will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Danny was preceded in death by his father Herman Hughes Bowen and mother Marie Talkington. Danny is survived by his wife Tonda, his sons Daniel and Douglass, numerous grandchildren and their dog Scooter.
