Daniel DeMauro, 95, of Fern Park, Florida, husband of the late Mary (Neely) DeMauro, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2021. He is survived by daughters Kelly (David) Feist and Nancy (Wayne) Marquis of Maitland, Florida, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and partner, Dawn Mills.

Danny grew up in Princeton, New Jersey. He relocated to South Florida in 1946 after serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, spending much of his time in the Pacific on LST 1059. Subsequent to his military service, Danny attended the University of Miami, earning a degree in Education. He taught physical education in the Broward County Schools in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he met his wife, Mary, an art teacher. After earning his master's degree in Health and Safety at Indiana University, he served as the Director of Safety and Site Planning for Broward County Schools until his retirement. Commercial Real Estate became his second career, where he worked with various entities to obtain right-of-way agreements for infrastructure growth throughout south Florida. Danny relocated to central Florida in 2005, to be closer to his children.

Involved in the community, Danny served on the Broward County Planning Council (1964-1978), Broward Schools Credit Union committee, The National Safety Council, and served as President of the Rotary Club of Fort Lauderdale. Danny was a Race Walker and earned numerous medals by participating in running events, including several Disney Half-marathons.

Danny had a lifelong passion for saltwater fishing and boating which he shared with friends and family. He was always looking for the best location for fishing which lead him to the Bahamas, Costa Rica, Mexico and the Keys. When asked where he caught the fish, Danny would pull back his cheek and say "right there!" Danny is remembered for his zest for life, positive attitude, tenacity, strong sense of family, happy hours with friends and neighbors, and ability to tell jokes and fish tales.

A public memorial service will be held at Maitland Presbyterian Church, 341 N. Orlando Avenue (US 17-92), Maitland, Florida, on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 3:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the local chapter of Honor Flight, Honor Flight Central Florida, ( www.honorflightcentralflorida.org )
