Cyril Arthur Mott, 91, passed away at home on Friday, August 19, 2022, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. Cyril was the beloved husband of Rita Mott, nee Layden; devoted father of Roger, Dennis, Margaret, Alan, Nancy (Charles), John (Jamie) and Kim; and proud grandfather of Kristyn, Matthew, Connor, Colin, Emmy, Jack-Layden, Ella, Georgia, Kaitlyn, Shane & Hunter.
Cyril was born in England and served in the British Army. Upon leaving the service he moved to America, where he met and married Rita Layden. They lived in Homewood, Illinois for nearly 30 years while raising their seven children. Cyril and Rita retired and moved to Florida in 1997. They kept busy there by joining and volunteering at several clubs, including the Irish American Club and the German Club. Cyril remained active as a skilled carpenter/woodworker and an avid reader throughout the rest of his life. Cyril and Rita celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on November 29, 2021. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
