Obituary

Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Miller of Winter Park, Florida, returned home to Jesus on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. She was born on January 5, 1961, in Macon, Missouri, to James and Mary Lou Bowzer. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Winter Park.

Cindy graduated from Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in marketing in 1983. She joined staff with Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) immediately after graduation. She first served in San Bernardino, California, working in marketing at Cru's headquarters. After that she served with Cru in Strasburg, Germany. She moved to Bulgaria with Cru in 1993.

Cindy married Galen Miller, the love of her life, on May 28, 1994 in O'Fallon, Missouri. She and Galen served with Cru stateside for a year before returning to do ministry in Bulgaria for 9 years.

Cindy spent the last four years serving as the media and marketing coordinator for StoryRunners. Her meticulous work with StoryRunners made it possible to tell God's story to oral learners living in unreached people groups throughout the world. Because of Cindy's many ministry assignments, countless have heard the gospel and trusted Christ.

Adventure called Cindy's name. She loved biking and recently completed the 235-mile Katy Trail in Missouri (and at every mile marker she said, "Woohoo!"). Cindy could be found scrapbooking or making cards as well as watching British mystery and baking shows with her family. She loved drinking an Aztec spicy mocha or having chips and salsa with friends. She also cheered for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Cindy served as a Girl Scout troop leader for several years, and she took her daughters and other girls on camping trips and to their headquarters in Savannah, Georgia. Cindy was dedicated to her daughters, and she loved taking them on her adventures. Whether they were off to the thrift store, the Florida Keys or New York City, Cindy delighted in time with her daughters.

Cindy will be remembered as a humble, kind servant of the Lord who faced hardship with grace and a smile that could light up a room.

Cindy is survived by her daughters Rachel Margaret Miller, Rebecca Grace Miller and Hannah Lillian Miller, and her mother Mary Lou Bowzer. She is preceded in death by her husband Galen Leon Miller, father James Bowzer and brother James "Jimmy" Bowzer.
