Obituary

Coylie Beal Poehlman Modzelewski born September 15, 1917 at Macon, Missouri, passed away June 20, 2018 at home in St. Petersburg, Florida. Attended Oakwood grade school and Macon High School in Macon. Graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1939 with a B.S. Degree in Public Administration. Married John B. Modzelewski in 1940. They lived on Staten Island, New York during World War II. They this lived in Waterloo, Iowa from 1947 until 1976, when she retired to St. Petersburg, Fl. In Waterloo, she was a leader for both Brownie and Girl Scout Troops. She was active in the Ladies Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Church, Auxiliary of St. Francis Hospital and the Association of University Women. In St. Petersburg she was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild, Disston Heights Civic Association and the Association of University Women. Survivors include her two daughters: Josephine A. Nichols of Marshalltown, Iowa and Marianne Minks of New Hartford, Iowa; seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, thirteen great great grandchildren and one great great great grandchild. Private interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Petersburg. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Iowa. In lieu of flowers, Coylie requested a prayer be said for peace among all people.
