Obituary

Colonel Julian Arden Anderson, Ret. U.S. Army, left this world and his devoted family on June 3, 2016, with his wife, Pamela Anderson, by his side. They shared adventures, new experiences and love until his very last breath.

Julian was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Margaret, the mother of his darling daughters Patti Ulbricht (wife of Fred Ulbricht) and Julie Culp (wife of W. Scott Culp). He is survived by sisters Connie, Miriam and Joan and brother Phillip, and by his adored grandchildren, Ben Ulbricht, Alex Ulbricht, Amanda Rockwood (wife of Brian Rockwood), Kathrine Bowser (wife of Robert Bowser), and Stephanie Kettinger (wife of Ryan Kettinger) and his precious great-grandchildren Abigail Bowser, Wade Bowser, Reagan Rockwood and Barrett Rockwood.

Julian was born in Bothell, Washington, on January 25, 1929, to immigrant parents, Julius and Betsy. He began his 26-year military career in 1951, as a private in the Army. He worked his way up to the rank of Colonel, having served in times of peace and war in Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded many medals and honors through out his long distinguished career, Julian continued to support the military all his life by being involved in MOAA, Wounded Warriors, and Disabled Veterans organizations.

After retiring, he pursued his many diverse business and personal interests, which brought him to New Mexico in 1998, and then to Orlando in 2012. He became an avid wilderness hiker and backcountry explorer doing volunteer work for the BLM, NPS, and S.H.I.T.F.U. He was a scientist at his very core, which led him to make an anatomical donation to UCF Medical School. He earned 5 degrees as a life-long learner. He proudly joined New Mexicans for Science and Reason, Concerned Scientists, and Republicans for Environmental Protection that helped feed his hunger for knowledge.

Julian was a singular personality with an unquenchable zest for life. He lived his life to the fullest with dignity and respect. Julian possessed a powerful spirit and lived life on his own terms, from his first breath until the moment his "trip was over".

"The journey is everthing, the end is nothing."

Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not here, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the soft up-flapping
of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft star, that star that shines
at night. Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not here. I did not die.
