Obituary

Christian Jurgensen; Born October 28, 1932 in Baltimore, Maryland, and went home to be with his Lord on March 8, 2019.

Chris moved to Central Florida in 1957 as part of the initial group of employees coming to the area from the Glen L Martin Aircraft Company in Baltimore. He stayed with the company through mergers and name changes, retiring in 1992 after 40 years of service. During his employment with Martin, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea.

Beloved husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Joanne M., daughter Elizabeth J. Teffner and grandson Thomas C. Teffner, both of Sugar Hill, Ga., sister-in-law Carol M. Christiansen, Maitland, Fl. and brother-in-law William F. McConnell, Tallahassee, Fl.

For 60 years he was an active member of First Baptist Church, Winter Park, taking part in Sunday School and Adult Choir. He sought to show his faith in deeds of kindness and found that opportunity in Deacon service. He will be remembered by those who knew him as a quiet man, preferring a supporting role rather than one of leadership.

In the years following retirement, Chris was able to focus on the things most important to him which were his family and his church activities. Among the more meaningful church activities was participation in multi-week mission trips to various countries including Brazil, Malta and Turkey.

Another retirement enabled activity, was golf. Chris was an enthusiastic golfer who enjoyed sharing his love of the game. One of his fondest memories was giving grandson Thomas his first set of golf clubs for his fifth birthday. Thomas has continued his interest in golf, playing in tournaments in his area and sharing the resulting stories with his grandfather.

He will be greatly missed.

Graveside services will be held Thursday March 14th at 11:00 AM at Palm Cemetery, Winter Park, Dr. Walter Jackson officiating.
