Charley Jean-Eilian Mayfield was born on January 23rd, 2023, to Jonathan and Brooke (Norcross) Mayfield via emergency surgery at AdventHealth Celebration Hospital after Charley was found to no longer have a beating heart on January 21st.
After many burials and "homegoings" this year for both the Mayfield & Norcross families, news of Charley's passing was sorrowful but hope-filled for siblings RJ (6) and Elianna (3). This sorrow has been helped by the outpouring of love, care, and support of the many amazing family, friends, and communities surrounding the family during this time. Many thanks and heartfelt gratitudes go out to AdventHealth Celebration, Advent Health Downtown Orlando & Pathology, the Catholic Diocese of Orlando, the Family Church campuses, the communities of Serenoa/Palms/Sawgrass Bay in Clermont, UnitedWay of Central Florida, DeGusipe Funeral Home, and countless more that have come alongside our family with their thoughts and prayers.
On Saturday, February 4, 2023, Charley will be interred into the Kingdom of Heaven grave site after a committal ceremony at the Queen of Angels Cemetery along with sibling twin Michel Meilani, who was born in 2018. The Kingdom of Heaven ministry is an extension of the Catholic Church to provide Christian committal rites and a sacred burial for children lost from age of conception until 1 year old and includes both claimed and unclaimed infants from the Greater Central Florida areas. A memorial wall with the children's names inscribed is planned for and currently raising funding.
The family asks that any gifts or donations be made out to the Queen of Angels with a "Kingdom of Heaven" memo or reach out to Mr. David Branson's office with the Catholic Diocese of Orlando in order to contribute to and learn more about this ministry and memorial.
