Charles Arnold Young, O.D., age 80, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, from lung cancer. He was born on July 21, 1941, in East St. Louis, Illinois to the late Charles A. and Lucille M. (Jackson) Young.

Chuck attended The Cathedral & John Connon High School in Bombay, India, followed by Washington University, then the Illinois College of Optometry where he graduated in 1965. He moved to Winter Park and retired after 40 years of serving the Orlando area as a Doctor of Optometry.

He was an active member of the Adanson Street Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. His greatest joy was in serving Jehovah and teaching people about the Bible. In his later years, he could regularly be found visiting local parks and having encouraging Bible discussions about God's wonderful promises for the future with the wide variety of people he met.

Chuck also loved to fish and golf. He scored his first hole-in-one at age 70. In local lakes, he landed many keeper bass, five of them over ten pounds, the largest weighing 13 pounds 1 ounce. He enjoyed relaxing on the Florida beaches or up in the Carolina mountains and especially going on cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, and the New England coast. Chuck was one of the funniest, most humble, kind, and generous people you could meet. He will be deeply missed.

Dear ones he left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 56 years, Lesley; his sister, Judith Ward; his son, Derek (Johanna) Young; his daughter, Lisa (Michael) Craft; five grandchildren: Colton, Evan, and Grady Craft, Lainee and Lennon Young; two nieces and a nephew in the United States; and a brother-and-sister-in-law and two nieces in England.

A memorial service was held on April 2, 2022.
