Charles VanBenschoten, 73 of Sanford, Florida passed away at home August 8, 2018. Mr. VanBenschoten was born May 22, 1945, in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Harry VanBenschoten and Janet Pfahler.

Mr. VanBenschoten is survived by a wife, Nancy, one son: Chris VanBenschoten.

Charles is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He proudly served eight years as a crew chief at various locations overseas and serving his last year in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1971.

Charles then went on to have a career in the aerospace industry. He worked for Fairchild Republic in Hagerstown, MD where he worked on the A-10 Thunderbolt II. Charles then went to work for Lockheed Martin in New Orleans, LA on the space shuttle program working on the external tanks. Charles then transferred to Lockheed Martin in Orlando, FL and worked on the Patriot missile program. He retired from Lockheed Martin in 2000.

Charles was an avid golfer, hunter and loved fishing. He loved woodworking and was an all-around handyman and craftsman. He loved animals especially his cats.

A Visitation will be held August 18, 2018, from 2 PM to 4 PM at DeGusipe Funeral Home in their Sanford Chapel with a Eulogy and Prayer service at 3 PM.

Charles ashes will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
