Colonel Charles Edward Kent, U.S. Army (Retired), age 87, of Maitland, Florida, entered eternal life on August 24, 2026.

Charlie was born on March 7, 1939, in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Thomas and Elizabeth Kent. After graduating from Norwich Military University, he began what would become a distinguished 30-year career in the United States Army, ultimately achieving the rank of full Colonel before his retirement. His military service included two tours in Vietnam and countless moves around the world with his family. His service to his country remained a tremendous source of pride throughout his life.

For all that he accomplished during his military career, Charlie’s greatest pride was his family. He shared 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carol Kent, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and family.

Charlie was the devoted father of five children: Charles Kent Jr. (Jessica); Suzanne Debold (Charles); Matthew Kent; Michael Kent (Cassie); and Elizabeth Collins (Sean). He was also the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren, with his first great-grandchild on the way—a growing family and legacy that brought him tremendous joy.

Charlie is also survived by his siblings, Ellen Mora and Thom Kent. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Suzanne Debold; his brothers, Peter Kent and Doug Kent; and his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Kent.

Kind, funny, and deeply devoted to those he loved, Charlie will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family and his country, his wonderful sense of humor, his snow-white hair, and his sparkling blue eyes. He lived a life defined by service, strength, love, and laughter. After a lifetime of serving his country and caring for the people he loved most, he leaves behind a remarkable legacy in the generations of family who will carry his memory forward.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.
